The 2008 Community Mural Project was organized by Karen Stinchfield, of the Brick House Community Resource Center. Kazokas was the mural artist in residence, working alongside several community members and committed assistants. The project took place at Unity Park in Turners Falls, MA on the Field House building. In the beginning it was a dull brown 800 square ft. wall. |

With the creative imaginations of children and adults from the community and Kerry, they put together a design. The focus of the mural was to paint animals and plants indigenous to the Connecticut River Valley. The front side of the mural depicts sunrise over the wide river valley with horses, an eagle, birds, squirrels, butterflies, and flowers decorating the scene. As the wall turns a corner, the water becomes a stream in a forest with a bobcat, a wolf, mushrooms, ferns, a beaver and even a skunk! The lighting changes to mid-day with bright blue skies overhead. |
This was a terrific project with many exciting animals and creatures to locate hidden in the fauna of Mother Earth’s beauty. To find out more about the mural projects and events happening in Turners Falls,
