Biography
Kerry
Anne Kazokas was born in Acton, Massachusetts in 1975. The majority
of her childhood was spent in Northfield, Massachusetts. The artist
has always been involved in many aspects of art including; painting,
sculpture, photography, dance, film, writing and theatre. The artist
began her studies in film and theatre arts which has provided her
with a solid foundation, yet her desire to create fine artwork led
her to Massachusetts College of Art in Boston for three years, where
she developed her painting and photography skills. In 1999 Kerry
opened and operated the Freedom Art Gallery in Northfield, MA. Over
the two years of it’s operation, Kerry organized several successful
exhibitions of other regional artists’ work. However, feeling
the need for closure, she decided to return to school to complete
her degree in Fine Arts at the University of New Mexico. While at
UNM, the artist concentrated upon learning alternative processes
to compliment her painting and sculpture techniques. After graduating
in 2002,Kerry moved home to New England to manage the Green Trees
Gallery in Northfield, MA, and be close to family. |
The love of expression
for this artist goes beyond fine art and has spilled over into script
writing and directing for a Summer Youth Theatre Program 2000 -
2003. Beginning in 2003 Kerry wrote a screenplay, “Free To
Fly”, which was selected for production by Northern Lights
Productions. The artist also co-directed and co-produced the film. Kerry then relocated to the wonderful artistic village of Shelburne
Falls, Massachusetts where she was able to focus upon her fine artwork and continue
to write more screenplays.
Currently Kerry is living in Deerfield, MA working as an art teacher at Eaglebrook School. During the summer months, Kerry has been working in Turners Falls on a series of Mural projects with The Brick House Community Resource Center. Kerry is also currently working on a book about spiritual travel to sacred places which have brought her to Mexico, Tibet, New Zealand and more. |
